Review: Pin Trading Event - Up

Disneyland Paris runs two Pin Trading events a year which include a brunch and go a bit beyond the monthly events they run and rotate between the hotels. As with the "it all started with a mouse" event we attended before, this Up themed event was also held in the New Port Bay Conference Center. Tickets sold out quite quickly and before images of the pins on sale were released. We weren't immediately drawn to the pins but were hopeful that the "special guests" that had been mention would include Up characters. Our only successful meet with an Up character was with Russell in Animal Kingdom  in 2016 (we regret not queuing to meet Carl, Dug and Russell together when we were there back in 2010).

Theming
The conference hall has minimal theming but what they had was effective. A large number of balloons formed the center piece of the buffet while there was a nice backdrop of Carl's front room used for the character meets. Disneyland Paris' current ambassadors were also dressed in appropriately themed attire.

Characters
There were just the two character meets this time but they were rare characters for Disneyland Paris. Carl and Russell alternated in half an hour slots, with three slots each. There was plenty of time to meet both and have decent interactions.

The Pins
One difference this time was that you could preorder the pins when you bought your ticket if you were buying them all. This made the queue a lot quicker than our last event. We particularly liked the pin trading character pins this time and bought the whole set. We only picked up a few of the main pins and skipped the jumbo pin. Though it was a nice pin it was far too expensive.

The event is still a glorified pin buying event but we found enough value in the character meets and brunch to make it worth it.
